Easy Changeable Custom Phone Case

When my old phone died back in April/May, I bought a new phone but was unable to find many cases for it. In the end, I decided to buy two clear cases and customize them myself. One I intend to do decoden, and the other I am using as a "changing" case by making custom inserts.

It's a very easy project so this is not so much a tutorial as sharing my process :3
This is an affordable way to be able to change your phone to match your moods (or outfits if you are really into a completely matching aesthetic??)

PILI and Ghibli's Animated World Exhibits

Today I finally got some time to go to the Ghibli's Animated World Exhibit!
Unfortunately, it was immensely crowded and very dark inside, so it was difficult to get pictures...

Before we could even enter, we had to take a number and wait for an hour! So we went to the nearby Syntrend building and took photos with the Pili puppets (modernized traditional Taiwanese puppetry art and performance) and statues!!

I like the design of this one the best

Outfits for Venturing Outdoors to be the Very Best

Pokemon GO finally released in Taiwan on Aug. 6! Though most of my readers are from countries where Pokemon GO released far earlier -_-; So I suppose this is not interesting news for you.
I've been playing a lot in my free time, and have not walked around aimlessly this much, ever!

Catching Pokemon in the rain
It's also been great to go to new places and notice things that I've never noticed before. The players of Ingress who set up the locations which are now our Pokestops and Gyms were quite creative and funny with their choosing of locations and naming them!

Hatching my first egg (10km) at level 10
Of course, there are many glitches still, which do serve both good and bad issues. The GPS tracking is the current biggest problem, sometimes not recording your movement, but at the same time sometimes allowing you to briefly go to distant Pokestops without moving, or hatching your eggs while you sit at a cafe (which happened to me today...)
Today's outfit for Pokemon GO and working
The streets are completely filled with Pokemon trainers from ages around 5 (with their parents) up through 40s and 50s who are all playing (not accompanied by children - they are interested in playing on their own!) Though it's easy to see that we are all playing the same game and there is a lot of interaction online in various facebook groups and LINE chats for the teams, there is no real-life interaction. I feel awkward to talk to strangers, and I'm sure everybody else feels the same.

Even so, it is still fun to go out and not feel awkward or anxious to be in public!  And I can take photos of Taiwan Teddy with the AR Pokemon!
Loads of Staryu near me - I live near a river
Still, because several of my uni friends are also playing, we can more easily arrange to meet up and hang out now. There are also some plans for small meet-ups in local areas, which I hope will follow through!

Overall, I'm quite excited to see if I can make friends through playing a game I love so much and also encourages people to go outside.
Very danger....

Lost this one due to wifi break-up!
I actually even upgraded my phone plan to get 1.5G of data flow each month so I can play Pokemon GO!  The WiFi is not stable enough to rely on, so data plans are important!

This is also the first time I've referred to online help for playing a Pokemon game. Previously the games were all self-contained so I could just bumble around at my own pace. I've never done EV training or other "breakdowns" of the game codes because I enjoy the fantasy world of Pokemon more than being good at the game, but now that Pokemon Go has a lot of player interaction at Gyms, it is important to get good training done!

Currently, I am at level 15, almost 16. I've sweated a ton while walking under the hot sun in the humid, tropical weather we have here. Though I wear a lot of sun protection now (it is a part of the reason I wear makeup as well... when I have sunscreen on it feels not so great so I just put makeup on to feel better and keep me from rubbing my face; I normally don't wear makeup because I don't go outside for long periods of time!)

What level are you at in Pokemon Go? Have you met any new friends?  Lost weight from all the walking?  Haha!  Let me know :3 I want to get to higher levels soon so I can get different and stronger Pokemon!

Meetup Report! Coincidence with Pokemon Timing!

Last month at the perfume theme meetup we drew the theme for this month (July 23), and it was Pokemon! This coincides perfecting with the recent launching of Pokemon GO in select countries (which, sadly, does not include Taiwan...)

Note: I was planning on including group photos, but since nobody has uploaded any yet, I'm going to post first and edit with group photos later if we get them!

I made a new JSK for this meetup.

Anime Cosme Cardcaptor Sakura Blush and Balm

Most recognizable costume and magic staff

Magical girls are a staple in anime and manga, and in recent years mahou shoujo has leaked into real life!  In addition to cosplay, there is now real, daily fashion, accessories, and cosmetics.  Sailor Moon is probably the #1 magical girl series, but I personally have always adored Cardcaptor Sakura!  CLAMP is my favorite manga creator group due to their art style and the fact they have some of the best costume designs in my opinion.

This year is also the 20th anniversary of Cardcaptor Sakura!  Since I didn't have paid TV channels growing up and wasn't allowed to watch much TV at all (books to the rescue!) I had only ever seen snippets of the anime.  Recently, I finally sat down and watched all the episodes in the span of about three days.  Because I'm an adult.  I can do what I want.

I did watch the series in Japanese with a Chinese subtitles, so if I use some wrong terms when describing some things, that may be why :P

Riding on the high of Cardcaptor Sakura marathon, the very same day I finished watching the last episode, a pop-up cafe of the same theme opened!  I do plan to go if I have friends who want to go with.  Actually, I'd probably go alone just because I want the Clow Card beverage and also to buy some of the goods they are selling.  This is getting off topic.

Anyway, back to the topic of real-life magical girls!  Anime Cosme!!

Lots of Sailor Moon
I already knew Bandai had created a Cardcaptor Sakura set of blush and lip balm, but never found it for sale in person.  However, I was searching online and found that it could be ordered through Watson's site (similar to Walgreens in the USA) despite having never been in any of the displays!

So of course I ordered one.  It arrived the day after payment and I made a small film to show it!  I've realized that filming is immensely difficult, stock image photography is immensely difficult, and lighting is both difficult and confusing!!  So please excuse the shoddy editing and footage ^_~

EDIT 2016.07.26: Remix music version for copyright block

Though some fans purchase these types of goods for the sole purpose of collecting them, I do intend to use them.  In fact, I've already used the lip balm~  Cosmetics do expire and the main attraction point is the packaging anyway.

Little Dipper Chiffon Lace Lolita Foundation Blouse Review

Blouses are a basic staple in any Lolita's wardrobe, but with the hot summer months fast approaching, sometimes it feels stifling to wear so many layers!

Chiffon blouses are definitely a hero to this situation in my opinion.  To be honest, it's been quite a long time since I've worn a cotton blouse, and they hang unloved in my closet.  Chiffon is just much easier to handle, especially as they don't wrinkle nearly as much!

I have a couple chiffon blouses in both short and long sleeve that I wear, but recently joined a group order for a different type of chiffon blouse - it's cropped to prevent too much bulk at the waistline due to blouse + petticoat (and sometimes + underskirt) + bloomers/shorts issue.

The blouses we ordered were Chiffon Lace Lolita Boat Neck Inner Foundation Blouse Short/Long Sleeve from Little Dipper.

Perfume and Pearls

It's been incredibly rainy here in Taipei -_-

I was running late and took a taxi.

No filter
But you have to brave the weather to get to a meetup!

The theme for this meetup was "perfume bottles" and I sewed a dress that was perfect for the theme!  If you follow me on instagram you would have seen it already~

We met at a lovely little cafe called 好時光/Plus Belle Arts Bistro because we had a coupon for shared set meals.

How to Cover "Toothy" Headband

Headdresses are usually tied on with a ribbon, but I actually prefer to have them on a headband; it helps them stay on more easily without pins in my opinion.

Brand headbands tend to be completely covered with fabric, but I like the type of headband that has teeth on the underside to help with griping, as my hair is rather slippery.  Recently I made the above canotier style headdress on a toothy headband.  Though it was in a coordinating pink color, I covered the top side with lace and took photos along the way!

Dragon Boat Festival 2016

Happy Dragon Boat Festival!  I could have sworn I had a post about the history of this festival, but when I checked previous posts I only found a rather morbid comic I'd posted about suicide (related to the festival, I swear!)

Most people know about Dragon Boat races and eating zongzi in relation to this holiday.  There are, of course, variation on the legend, but basically the story I grew up with is about a man named Qu Yuan who loved his country very much.  He was an adviser to the emperor, but when a the emperor proved to be selfish and care little about the country or the people, Qu Yuan jumped off a cliff into the river to kill himself.  Because he was such a good man, the local villagers quickly made some riceballs wrapped in leaves (zongzi) and rowed out to drop them in the river so the fish would not eat the body of Qu Yuan.

I remember my mother making zongzi at home when I was growing up, though now they are readily available so we just buy them :P

This year Ano's mom gave us some vegetarian zongzi (she is Buddhist) she made which were really good!

Also made with healthy rice grains mix!
I went home for dinner and had another zongzi, one my mom bought
It... kinda looks similar...
They are really filling, essentially a complete meal-to-go.  With so much rice though, it is best not to eat more than one in a sitting I think ^^;

And a random photo of today's look:
Today's outfit
I've also got an instagram now!  My username is "_sparklewolfie_"  I couldn't sign up using the username without the underscores for some reason.  It said the username was taken, but when I did a search, no such user existed :/  I sent several inquiries but never received an answer.  I post some non-lolita outfits on there and other daily occurrences.  Let me know if you have an instagram so I can follow you as well!
